Surfing:
On January 10, 2004 Pete rode into history by catching
and successfully riding a 70 foot wave. Earning him
the coveted Billabong XXL Big Wave award and the Guinness
World Record for the largest wave ever surfed.
Kitesurfing:
Kitesurfing is the latest fusion of water sports –
and naturally Pete Cabrinha is there. As with all new
sports, adequate equipment was scarce so he began building
his own gear under his Cabrinha Design label. Today, Cabrinha
Kitesurf Equipment, a division of Neil Pryde Ltd., is
sold in over 40 countries worldwide and is the leader
in kitesurfing technology.
Windsurfing:
In 1985 he became World Windsurfing Champion in the
very discipline closest to his roots, wave riding.
Media and Fans:
Pete is one of the few athletes to successfully crossover
from sport to sport and garner respect from both the athletes
and the media.
